Dr. Leah Monohan

Dr. Monohan is a native Virginian. She attended the University of Virginia for her bachelor's degree in biology and went on to attend Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine (VA Tech) for her DVM. She has practiced in Charlottesville, Scottsville, Washington, DC, Maryland's Eastern Shore, and the Caribbean.

Dr. Monohan has had an ongoing interest in small animal medicine and is developing a new interest in veterinary behavioral medicine. Her favorite aspect of veterinary medicine as a whole is client education, which allows her to meet and foster relationships with pets and their owners.

Outside of work, Dr. Monohan is busy caring for her twin boys, Aidan and Riley (especially doing anything that is outdoors). She hopes to continue some home improvement projects, mosaic art, and watercolor painting in the future. She also enjoys traveling as much as possible. Her household also includes to cats, Mel and Jac in addition to Rose the Mastiff.

Dr. Monohan has been a vital part of the Central Virginia veterinary community and purchased Preddy Creek Animal Clinic in February 2020.

Dr. Alison Powell

I was born in Ontario and raised in the beautiful west coast of Canada. My veterinary schooling was done at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan--one of the coldest places on earth, as far as I am concerned. After I met my husband, Michael, I chose to move to his part of the world--Ruckersville, Virginia. We have two great (and very busy) children and one other Saskatoon transplant: Maggie the cat. Fejit, the cat, is a more recent addition to the family as are the dogs Milo and Pippa. We also share our lives with chickens, goats and a few thousand honey bees.

Animals have always played a central role in my life and I expect that they always will. I grew up on a hobby farm with horses, sheep, chickens, ducks and donkeys. I can't remember a time when there were no animals to feed or groom or otherwise look after. I have volunteered for wildlife rehabilitation groups, worked in kennels and shelters and helped establish rescue organizations. I studied both large and small animal practice in veterinary college but have focused on small animal medicine and surgery since graduation. I founded Preddy Creek Animal Clinic in the Fall of 2011 as a way to continue my passion of caring for animals. 

I try to offer options that clients can manage--both financially and emotionally. I will do my best to communicate what choices are available as far as treatments and preventative medicine and work with owners to choose the best plan possible for their pet.

Dr. Amy Bodycott

Dr. Bodycott is originally from South Carolina, and received her bachelor’s degree in Animal and Veterinary Sciences from Clemson University before attending Auburn University to obtain her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. She practiced for 2 years in southern New Jersey and 8 years in northern Maryland before recently relocating to the Charlottesville area. 

Her professional interests include preventative care, feline medicine, senior wellness, and client education. She shares her home with her husband and their cats, and in her spare time enjoys hiking, horseback riding, and exploring all that the Charlottesville area has to offer. 

She is excited to be a part of the Preddy Creek Animal Clinic team, and looks forward to meeting and caring for each patient and their family!
